Art Statement

My paintings express a unique vision of the emotions that fill me in a particular moment.  I try to find myself inside every line, drawings and textures in order to grasp my emotions.

I have a great influence and attraction for abstract art with strong strokes and diverse themes. I navigate my emotions to express my art based on moments and situations I have experienced. The materials I use depend on this personal expressive need. I am passionate about experimenting with different textures, from strong paint strokes to construction materials such as cement.

I think that my creative process does not end with the last brushstroke or layer of color. Rather, it is a work for time to decide its proper place. I have had stages in which my works have not managed to get out of that test, since each day ends up showing more and different aspects than those I sought to express. On other occasions, a single idea has inspired me to generate a transversal narrative through a series of paintings. I am passionate about creating and expressing different sensations based on a single emotion.

My first influence was Picasso, whose work still gets my admiration and as a creative milestone. My other influences come from pre Columbian art, because of my Mexican roots. I also feel a great deal of admiration for the Mexican muralism, about their ideas, concepts and style. I've studied their influence in American abstract expressionism.

In a nutshell, my work´s uniqueness is the ability to express myself through paint. It's a long quest, and I'm sure many other artists might be related to it. It's a quest to find a way of saying what I have to say, express, influence and start a dialogue with my public about those emotions. That's my main purpose, to put all my heart and effort into my Art.
